Hand Sanitizers Donated to LONG BEACH UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT

Long Beach-Yokkaichi Sister City Association collaborated with several Japanese businesses to facilitate a donation of 10,000 bottles of hand sanitizers to Long Beach Mayor Garcia’s EDUCATION FUND for the Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD).  As part of a promotion by  YS Media Agency Inc. in Torrance,  RIN ASOBI is donating shipments of  hand sanitizers to various cities and organizations in the United States to help with the pandemic.

Who is Rin Asobi you may ask?  She is a virtual artificial intelligent (AI) “youtuber” personality with hundreds of thousands of followers.  Using proprietary artificial intelligence, the hologram interacts with people in an almost human manner, answering questions and playing games.

Hand Sanitizer PalletThe LBUSD was more than happy to receive the hand sanitizers which has become more and more difficult to obtain during this pandemic period.  Saya Tsong, vice-president of the Japanese Business Association, coordinated the donation through JETRO, the Japanese External Trade Organization in Los Angeles.  Nippon Express donated the transportation costs.  Kirika Corporation and NHB Quest Inc. are helping to distribute and sell the hand sanitizers, the proceeds of which will assist other charitable organizations.

On Thursday June 25th, a presentation of a Certificate of Appreciation from Mayor Garcia was made to Yuki Seki and the donation of hand sanitizers was accepted by Karissa Selvester, Director of the Mayor’s Fund for Education, and Laurie Peterson, Vice Chair of the LBUSD Board.  The event was held at the LCUSD warehouse in Long Beach and was attended by representatives of all the organizations.
